A Proposed Evidence-Based Local Guideline for Definition of Multidrug-Resistant (MDR), Extensively Drug-Resistant (XDR) and Pan Drug-Resistant (PDR) Bacteria by the Microbiology Laboratory

چکیده
Multi-drug resistant organisms (MDROs) are defined as microorganisms, predominantly bacteria, that to one or more classes of antimicrobial agents. These pathogens frequently most available agents and deserve special attention in healthcare facilities. Generally, MDRO infections have clinical manifestations similar caused by susceptible pathogens. Despite two different classifications WHO CDC, still there debates about update definition MDROs medical literature. Here we provide an updated local guideline for definitions various microbiology laboratory.

Detection of Multidrug Resistant (MDR) and Extremely Drug Resistant (XDR) P. Aeruginosa Isolated from Patients in Tehran, Iran
Background: This study was done to detect multidrug resistant (MDR) and extremely drug resistant (XDR) of Pseudomonas aeruginosa among strains isolated from patients in Tehran, Iran, due to importance of these phenotypes in treatment of human infections. Methods: Eighty eightP. aeruginosa were isolated from patients in Tehran, Iran, and identified by routine...
متن کاملMultidrug Resistant and Extensively Drug Resistant Bacteria: A Study
Background and Objective. Antimicrobial resistance is now a major challenge to clinicians for treating patients. Hence, this short term study was undertaken to detect the incidence of multidrug-resistant (MDR), extensively drug-resistant (XDR), and pandrug-resistant (PDR) bacterial isolates in a tertiary care hospital. Material and Methods. The clinical samples were cultured and bacterial strai...
متن کاملmultidrug-resistant and extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis
multidrug-resistant (mdr) and extensively drug-resistant (xdr) tuberculosis (tb) are increasing globally. treatment options for these patients are very limited. although treatment of these patients with standardized regimen is associated with high mortality and morbidity, rational usage of new drugs might be promising. in this study we will review epidemiology of xdr-tb and tdr-tb in iran and t...
متن کاملMultidrug-resistant and extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis.
Tuberculosis (TB) can usually be treated with a course of four standard, or first-line, anti-TB drugs. If these are misused or mismanaged (that is, when drugs are taken in the wrong combination, are fewer than those prescribed, or are taken in insufficient doses or not at the proper time), multidrugresistant TB (MDR-TB) can develop. MDR-TB is a form of disease resistant to the most important an...
متن کاملEmergence of multidrug-resistant, extensively drug-resistant and untreatable gonorrhea.
The new superbug Neisseria gonorrhoeae has retained resistance to antimicrobials previously recommended for first-line treatment and has now demonstrated its capacity to develop resistance to the extended-spectrum cephalosporin, ceftriaxone, the last remaining option for first-line empiric treatment of gonorrhea. An era of untreatable gonorrhea may be approaching, which represents an exceedingl...
